tbilisidrive.com is a car hire comparison site for Tbilisi, run by Tbilisi Tbilisidrive. We do not own or operate a rental fleet. The 771 cars shown across this site belong to local Georgian rental companies and are surfaced through the LocalRent booking platform, so once you confirm a reservation your actual rental agreement is with that supplier, not with us. This policy sets out, in ordinary language, what personal data moves through the site, who sees it, on what legal footing, and what control you have over it. It is written to the standard of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for visitors browsing from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and we apply the same standard to every visitor regardless of where they are searching from.
This page does not change the rental agreement itself, which is a separate matter between you and the supplier. Booking conditions live in our terms and conditions, and a full breakdown of every cookie we use is kept in the cookie policy.
1. Who we are
The controller for the processing described on this page is Tbilisi Tbilisidrive, operator of tbilisidrive.com, contactable at [email protected]. Our part in your trip ends where the rental itself begins. Once a booking is confirmed, LocalRent (the platform that powers the search and reservation flow on this site) and the Tbilisi supplier you picked each become controllers in their own right for the data they need to prepare the car, meet you and complete the paperwork. Both publish their own privacy notices, and a request that concerns the rental contract, a deposit hold, or a damage claim belongs with the supplier, not with us. Anything about how this website itself works should come to us.
2. Data from the search form
You do not need to register or give your name to search. Setting a pickup point (commonly Tbilisi International Airport or a city address), a pickup date and time, a return date and time, and an optional age band sends those values to the LocalRent availability service so it can return the cars actually free on your dates. Narrowing the results, say to the 606 cars bookable with no deposit, to automatics, or to a particular class, sends only that filter choice. None of this identifies you. It describes a trip, and it is linked to a person only once that person goes on to book.
3. Data from the booking step
Selecting a car opens the LocalRent reservation flow embedded on this site. There you provide what a supplier actually needs: your name, email address, phone number, the car chosen, your flight number if you are landing at Tbilisi International Airport, and driver details for every named driver. That information goes to LocalRent and from there to the supplier who will hand over the keys. Tbilisi Tbilisidrive never sees your payment card details at any stage. Deposits and rental charges are settled directly between you and the supplier, quoted in EUR, so no part of this site touches card numbers, expiry dates or bank credentials. If you contact us instead of booking, we keep only what your message contains.
4. What we hold ourselves
Our own footprint stays deliberately thin. The server keeps standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested, referring page, browser and device type) so the site stays online, abusive traffic can be blocked, and we can see which pages people actually use. Any email you send us is kept while your question is open. We run no marketing database, build no customer profiles, and never sell or rent personal data to a third party. There is no user account system on tbilisidrive.com, so there is no password of yours stored anywhere on our side.
5. Cookies and analytics
A short list of strictly necessary cookies keeps the site functional: they remember your chosen language, hold your search dates as you move between pages, and carry your selected car into the booking widget. 6. Legal bases for processing
Article 6 of the GDPR requires a lawful basis for every use of personal data, and three apply here. 7. Who we share data with
Three groups receive personal data from this site, and no one else does. LocalRent, as the platform behind the search and booking flow, receives the search and reservation details set out above. The local Tbilisi supplier you select receives the reservation so it can prepare the vehicle and complete the contract with you. Hosting, email and security providers that act strictly on our instructions process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Outside those three, we disclose personal data only if a court or a competent authority requires it by law, and only to the extent that request covers.
8. Transfers outside the EEA
The cars are parked in Georgia, which sits outside the European Economic Area, while visitors search and book from every region. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK as a result, the transfer is backed by a recognised safeguard: an adequacy decision where one exists for the destination, or otherwise the European Commission's standard contractual clauses paired with the security measures our processors commit to. In practice the transfer is unavoidable given what the service does. A supplier waiting at Tbilisi International Airport cannot meet the right passenger without knowing who to look for. You are welcome to ask us which safeguard applies to a specific transfer of your data.
9. How long we keep data
We hold data only for as long as the purpose it was collected for still stands, then delete it or reduce it to an aggregate that cannot be traced back to a person. The table below covers what we ourselves control. Reservation records held by LocalRent and by your chosen supplier follow their own retention schedules, which typically include a statutory duty to keep invoices and signed rental agreements for several years.

10. Your rights
You can ask whether we hold data about you and get a copy of it (access). You can have wrong or incomplete details corrected (rectification). You can ask us to delete data we no longer have a basis to keep (erasure). You can have processing paused while a dispute over accuracy or an objection is worked out (restriction). You can receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used format and have it passed to another provider where that is technically possible (portability). You can object to anything we base on legitimate interest, and we stop unless we can show compelling grounds that override your rights. Consent, wherever it applies, can be withdrawn at any time.
Send your request to [email protected] with enough detail for us to locate your records, for example the email address you searched with or your booking reference. We aim to respond within one month and may ask a clarifying question first to make sure we are not handing data to the wrong person. There is no charge for exercising a right. If a request concerns a confirmed booking, we pass it on to LocalRent and the supplier, since the booking file sits with them. If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live or work, and in Georgia that authority is the Personal Data Protection Service.
11. Children
This site is built for adults old enough to hire and drive a car. Suppliers in Tbilisi set their own minimum driver age and required licence history, and every renter on the platform is an adult. We do not knowingly collect data from children and we direct no marketing at them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to [email protected] and we will remove it.
12. Security, changes and contact
Traffic between your browser and this site travels over TLS encryption, the booking widget runs on the platform's own secured connection, and access to any system that could hold personal data is limited to people who need it for their work. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but the less data a site keeps, the less there is to protect, and that principle guided how this one was built. Should a breach ever put your rights at risk, we would notify the competent authority and, where the risk is significant, you directly.
We update this policy whenever our tools, partners or legal duties change, and the date below always marks the version currently in force. A later version is not applied backward to data already collected under an earlier one without its own lawful basis.
